OVERALL:The Seiko ( Diver SKX011J) is a durable workhorse. The case is hefty and carries some weight, but the dial and bezel are beautiful and legible. If you?re going for a dressy look, go with the metal band, and if you are looking to actually use the bezel and dive with this, the rubber band is best. Youre not going to find a better and more respected diver or just plain watch in the market. Do yourself a favor and find a watch band that fits your style
*Just a personal note: you may see many of these Seiko early divers on ..Most coming from overseas. Beware, as many are junk and have parts pieced together from many different watches. Not easy to return these Junk timepieces. I have a "no hassle" return policy. At least I know where my watches come from and whats inside them. BUY USA
Instructions for quick-set day /date and setting time
IF YOU ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH THIS MODEL PLEASE READ INSTRUCTIONS
Setting Date then Day: Carefully, Unscrew crown by turning it counterclockwise, until it pops up a bit and pull out until you hear two clicks.(may take some getting used ,due to the sensitivity of the crown)Turn the crown counter clockwise (like you are setting the time) until you see the date and/or day change past the 3. Push crown in and pull out to one click. Now set current date by turning screw clockwise. To set the day, in the same first click position, turn the screw counter clockwise to the correct day. Push in, dont screw in, yet. Setting date and day this way, will help preserve the automatic date switching gear of the watch.
Setting the Time: Pull the crown out gently until you hear two clicks, then turn counterclockwise to set current time. DO NOT SET THE WATCH BACKWARD. When finished with setting day, date, and time, push crown so it is seated correctly on the thread, then screw it in clockwise, hand tight.
NOTES:
The watch was water tested for light swimming or snorkel. I would not dive with and older watch.
The watch will not keep time straight out of the box, because the reserve feature is empty.
Filling the watch reserve takes a minimum of 3 or so days of continuous ACTIVE wear, and placing,if you can it in a spinning watch winder box nightly.
If this is not done, it may not work properly & run erratically, which means the second hand will start and stop or seem to run incorrectly, until the reserve is properly filled.
Keeping Power Reserve Full: This is a movement based automatic watch that winds while you wear it, and does not contain a battery. It has a possible 30 hour power reserve that will keep it functioning for up to 35 hours, WHEN FULL. Upon receiving, the power reserve is empty, and the watch will function erratically ( meaning starts and stops). This is normal for all automatic watches until you properly wind the reserve. The power reserve will need to be topped up by wearing it daily. When not wearing the watch, placing it in a watch winder will keep reserve topped up. When ready to wear again, give it a few shakes side to side, then set it as mentioned above. Do this daily, while wearing.
